WHAT WILL YOU DO?

As the Director of our firearm, firearm accessories and sporting memorabilia, you ensure our buyers and sellers are equally excited about our firearm auctions. Your unique ability in understanding these specialty collectibles is key to keep correct detailed information flowing through the right channels to showcase our inventory and create interest and demand across the US for our incredible auctions. You are responsible for ensuring the movement of that high quality inventory through detailed accuracy when reaching firearm enthusiasts. You are a people person that works with multiple departments within the company in preparation to sell inventory at auction. The Firearms Operations Director role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless movement of a seller’s precious inventory from start to finish.

As a member of our Customer Service team (which includes everyone at Richmond btw), you will keep our front office in the know, process internal requests, and be an info hub for both our curators and the extended logistics and warehouse team as needed. And on occasion, you’ll be responsible for selecting the song for our 3:00pm dance parties.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • General management of the firearms, firearm accessories and sporting memorabilia, including inventory control and evaluation.
    • Serve as the final authority on authentication and valuation for specialty and antique firearms, with a track record to back it.
      • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of research sources and references.
    • Develop and manage relationships with private collectors, estates, and dealers to secure high-value consignments.
    • Assist in developing department level strategies to execute to drive growth.
      • Completing all aspects of firearms check-in to inventory including: Inspecting firearms for complete serial numbers.
      • Accurately identifying firearms and accessories to describe them and their classification, nomenclature, and mechanical operation.
      • Logging firearms into FFL logbook including Make, Model, Caliber/Gauge, Type, and serial number.
      • Inspecting firearms for damage, scratches, defects. Note any damage that may make the firearm unsafe.
      • Completing descriptions and assisting with photography of all firearms for inventory input into auction system.
      • Researching, when necessary, any firearms for which additional information is needed before the auction.
    • Coordinate with vendors for firearm storage supplies, display fixtures, and secure transport logistics.
    • Oversight and management of Premier and Virtual firearms auctions; duties include photography, descriptions, unloading listings to online platforms, and all post-auction needs.
      • Lead the visual and catalog presentation strategy to elevate the prestige of the firearms category in every sale.
      • Provide expert insight for marketing and educational content (e.g., blog posts, video scripts, social media Q&As).
      • Analyze bidder behavior, sale results, and trends to shape future firearm sales and marketing strategies.
      • Researching magazines and websites for advertising of firearms auctions.
      • Attendance and management of key tradeshows and other events
    • Maintaining all firearms club memberships (re: Colt Archives).
      • Stay up to date on evolving firearms legislation (state & federal) that may impact auctions and proactively advise leadership.
        • Compliance with ATF guidelines and ensure the company’s FFL status stays in good standing.
        • Completing all 4473 forms or FFL transfers for firearms sales.
        • Coordinate with leadership and any third-party providers to ensure the security of all firearms on site — physical and digital (FastBound access, logbook access, etc.).
      • Supervising the department team. Work collaboratively with team members and other departments.
        • Training other team members on proper handling of and transactions involving firearms.
      • Set up Standard Operating Procedures for the department to ensure consistency and accuracy.
      • Practicing safe handling when handling firearms and firearms accessories.
      • Perform administrative duties to support your responsibilities as required.
      • Special projects or any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

      • High School Diploma or equivalency. Advanced degree a plus.
      • Firsthand knowledge of specialty firearms.
      • FFL Certification or Eligibility Preferred.
      • NRA or NSSF Affiliation a Plus.
      • Minimum of five (5+) years working in a similar role.
      • Prior auction house experience especially in a firearms, collectibles, or high-value vertical an asset.

      • Established network in the firearms research market.
      • Fully fluent in English.
      • Strong research and cataloging skills.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
      • Effective problem-solving skills.

      • Strong organizational abilities and diligence.
      • Ability to multitask independently and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Email).
      • Proficiency in Auction & Firearm regulatory platforms preferred (WaveBid, Fast Bound, etc.).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

      • Administrative office work is required for this role.
      • You may be required to remain stationary or seated for extended periods of time.
      • Willing and able to work out of our headquarters in Greenville, SC.
      • Local travel may be required within one (1) hr of our office & facility to complete daily tasks as well as travel to trade shows, other events and collection reviews or transport.
